We as a company recently took the step forward and introduced a new project of a specific area dedicated to Functional Exercise. To help us with the project we were introduced to OLF and their Managing Director Tommy Matthews. Tommy and I sat and we discussed how we could best educate the new project into the company.
Tommy went on to discuss the format of Move IT! This was the format of training which Tommy had devised to assist in training Functional exercise to all that introduce it.
DW Sports Fitness had developed an area which included training zones, being: Combat, Suspension Training, SAQ, Power, Strength, and Flexibility. Through Move IT! Tommy was able to work with a team of 6 which included a Fitness Manager and 5 Fitness Instructors and therefore train in each zone to each member of staff.
Throughout the days training Tommy trained each zone from the most basic of techniques to some of the more advanced methods of teaching for each area of expertise. What Tommy made very notable was his expert teaching techniques, Tommy was able to achieve full attention by all members of staff, and by the end of the day all members of the fitness team could state that they had achieved a massively sufficient amount of training and were all on the same level.
At the beginning of the days training with Tommy the fitness team at DW Sports Fitness, Bolton had only a small amount of knowledge about each zone and some of the team members were more confident about some of the areas than others. They had never put the knowledge they had learnt into practice and had limited knowledge of how they would piece it all together. As a result of Tommy’s training the results of their first 2 weeks, were 1289 members of the fitness club trained through Functional Training programs. As there were 9465 visits into the Fitness Club in those 2 weeks a result of 13.6% of the usage was due to Functional Training.
Without doubt the beginning of a project such as ours would be impossible to achieve success without the assistance of OLF and Tommy Matthews. The team at OLF in my opinion are the first choice for any form of education in relation to fitness development. Since Tommy visited us we have developed 2 Boxing Instructors through their external qualifications with OLF and we are putting into place a plan to develop the Functional area within our club for the next 12 months, again this would be impossible without the guidance which Tommy provided.
To conclude what we have would not progress if we had not used OLF. In our opinion they are the number 1 choice for education, if you wish to improve your product. If your business is within fitness and you want to move forward give OLF a call, or don’t and maybe look back in 12 months time and ask yourself why you are behind everyone else.
